One of the less well-known and newer treks that follows the traditional hiking route of Annapurna Base Camp is the Khopra Trek. The trek is perfect for those enthusiasts who want to explore places which are less commercialized and want to enjoy a peaceful time in the nature. This is not a very high altitude trek so the trek is also suitable for those enthusiasts who haven’t had a chance to explore the Himalayas. You can gather the most authentic experience via the Khopra trek and head on to other challenging treks thereafter. The highest altitude you get to in this trek is at 3,360 meters Khopra Ridge. Before beginning the Khopra Trek, hikers must be in good physical condition because the altitude will exceed 3,500 meters. All travelers are advised to engage in some basic physical activity three to four months before embarking on this wonderful journey. All hikers are advised to bring some basic trekking equipment with them for their personal comfort. Even if there might be some difficulties along the way, the adventure will be rewarding as you get to experience the local cuisine and beverages and take in the breathtaking surroundings. Before you begin the trek, we will obtain the TIMS and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit for you.

Arrival in Kathmandu
As you approach Kathmandu, the captivating panorama of the valley, the majestic Mountain Range, and the lush cultivated land below unfolds before your eyes. Upon clearing customs, a friendly representative will be waiting outside the airport to warmly welcome you and help you to get your accommodation. They will expertly navigate the initially bewilderingly narrow and winding alleys of Kathmandu, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Drive to Pokhara: 6-7 hours
Early in the morning, we drive to Pokhara. As you travel, you'll be able to take in numerous stunning views, and when you arrive in Pokhara, you'll be taken to your hotel. You can take a walk along the Lakeside, Pokhara, and enjoy a peaceful and beautiful evening with some beer and local foods.
Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk: 1and half hour drive and 5-6 hours trek
Today, we embark on a journey to Ghandruk, starting from Nayapul. Ghandruk is the second-largest village in Nepal and is inhabited by the Gurung ethnic group. This charming village boasts its own language, unique culture, and delightful traditional attire, reminiscent of the Gorkha army's way of life. Even local tourists from Kathmandu or Pokhara find immense joy in visiting this village, as it offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Machhapuchhre mountains.
Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani: 3-4 hours trek
Enjoy a delicious breakfast while waking up to stunning views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and the Hiunchuli peaks in Ghandruk.
The trail will then ascend via Deurali and enter some lush rhododendron trees from here. Nepal's national flower is the rhododendron blossom, and in the spring, when the trees are in full bloom, the forests are transformed into vivid floral gardens, which seem especially stunning when contrasted with the distant, snow-capped mountains.
You will reach Tadapani after hiking over a brief pass, where you may take in more breathtaking scenery. The settlement is home to many hospitable villagers who will probably be selling trekkers' trinkets to bring back home.
Trek from Tadapani to Dobato: 5-6 hours trek
We depart the main Gorepani or ABC trip trail from Tadapani today, and for the next few days, we will hike in a more secluded portion of the Annapurna region. We may discover the area's varied flora and fauna as well as the breath-taking views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Hiuchuli during our hike today. We reach Dobato on a very easy trail, where the magnificent vista of the Annapurna South and Hiuchuli conquers us. Overnight in a lodge.
Trek from Dobato to Upper Chistibung: 5-6 hours trek
After a leisurely breakfast in Dobato, you'll start the ascent to Muldai Peak for a breathtaking sunrise panorama. From here, you'll descend through open terrain and a lovely forest to get to Lower Chistibung's pastures.
The trail will gradually climb up to Upper Chistibung, an interim herder's town, after traversing another woodland. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Himalayan Thar and the brilliant Lophophorus (Danphe), the nation's bird, on the grassy ridge above the trail.
Trek from Upper Chistibung to Khopra Danda: 5-6 hours trek
You'll start your slow ascent above the treeline through lovely alpine meadows and pastures after breakfast in Upper Chistibung in order to get to Khopra. Look for the Annapurna South peak in the distance as you enter the ridge.
Once at Khopra, take a short stroll to a vantage point with a glimpse of the Kali Gandaki River below in the low valley. You can take in the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains, including as Mount Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South, while staying in Khopra for the night.
Rest in Khopra Danda and hike to Khayer Lake
To get the best views of the summit and the nearby mountains today, we start our journey early in the morning to Kayer Lake. Hindus take special care to preserve this lake as a sacred site, and it is said that taking a bath there will aid in achieving Nirvana.
There are numerous Hindu and Buddhist shrines along the lake because Hinduism and Buddhism are closely intertwined in Nepal. For those who choose not to climb the entire distance to Khayer Lake, a half-day hike is an option.
Trek from Khopra Danda to Swanta: 5-6 hours trek
Today, we drop the mountainside steeply from Khopra Ridge and continue descending the route. More views of Mount Dhaulagiri can be seen all the while, and it makes a beautiful backdrop for the terraced fields and traditional residences in the villages adjacent to Swanta.
Trek from Swanta to Ulleri: 5-6 hours trek
After eating breakfast in Swanta, you'll hike down to a little river and across village farms to see the watermill there. After crossing the suspension bridge, you'll begin a steep ascent to the settlement of Chittre, where you'll join the primary trekking trail in Ghorepani. From here, descend through rhododendron trees until you reach Ulleri, a well-liked trekking town in the Annapurna area.
Trek from Ulleri to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara: 5-6 hours trek and 1 and half hour drive
You'll travel to Nayapul after breakfast in Ulleri while taking in the breathtaking hillside scenery of western Nepal. At Nayapul, where your hike comes to a close, a transfer will take you to your Pokhara hotel. You'll be rewarded with stunning vistas of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, the peaks of Annapurna, and others, even from this metropolitan setting.
Once you arrive in Pokhara, settle into your lodging and enjoy the day and evening at your own. As the gateway to the Himalayas, this laid-back lakeside town is teeming with fashionable cafés, eateries, quirky shops, and yoga studios that welcome tourists and expats.
Fly to Kathmandu: 25min.
After breakfast, you might have time to relax, go sightseeing, or stop by a coffee shop in Pokhara. In order to catch your flight back to Kathmandu, which departs around 1.5 hours later, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the domestic airport.
After being driven there, you may enjoy the rest of your time at your leisure in Kathmandu. Take a tour of the capital's streets in a rickshaw, a bicycle, or on foot to see any things you probably missed at the beginning of your trip or to seek trinkets.
